No phone support - deliberately

We can't verify a caller is you, and phone queues are where support goes to die. Email keeps everything on the record: you get our answer in writing, and nobody can ring us up pretending to be you.

Where are you based?
Zurich, Switzerland - the whole team of 14, plus the support desk, which replies in English and German. Our registered office is Werdmattweg 7, 8005 Zurich, Switzerland (it's in the footer of every page, and you can look us up in the Commercial Register of the Canton of Zurich under UID CHE-214.796.358). Your mail never leaves Switzerland either: both our datacentres are Swiss, one in Zurich and one in Lausanne.
I've forgotten my password
Head to the sign-in page and choose "Trouble signing in?". You'll need the recovery phrase we issued when you signed up. We have to be straight with you here: your mailbox is zero-access encrypted with keys derived from your password, so without your password or that phrase, nobody - including us - can unlock your mail. Support genuinely cannot bypass this, which is exactly the point. With your recovery phrase you can set a new password without losing a single message.
How do I close my account?
Sign in at mail.scrooglemail.com and go to Settings, then Account, then Close account - it takes about a minute and we don't make you argue with anyone first. Your subscription stops renewing and your encrypted mailbox is deleted from both datacentres. If you're inside your first 30 days, email billing@scrooglemail.com and we'll refund you under the money-back guarantee, back to the same payment method. Do export anything you want to keep before you close: once your mailbox is gone, it's gone - we hold no readable copy.
